Sustainable drainage and strategic flood risk council guidance – now added to our library!
We are delighted to announce that we have further enhanced the range of research resources available in our online Library to include sustainable drainage and strategic flood risk council guidance.
For some time, the library has been home to detailed guidance on contaminated land policies by Local Authorities in England, Scotland and Wales, which has proved very popular with our clients in preparing for pre-planning submissions and site feasibility. This has enabled developers, house builders and planning consultants to advise their clients on the need to make more detailed enquiries and ground investigations, which can be obtained through our EnviroSmart range of services.
We have now added new sections on sustainable drainage guidance for planning applications and strategic flood risk guidance from the Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs).
Councils must automatically refer drainage schemes on major developments* to LLFAs to ensure they meet the appropriate drainage hierarchy following new rules in place since 6th April 2015.
It is therefore essential that property professionals undertake the same research on drainage matters, as they do for contaminated land, to the relevant council. Demonstrating knowledge of suitability or otherwise for sustainable drainage on site will be a key part of discharging the planning condition on these kind of developments.
