What’s your background and experience before joining GeoSmart?
I previously worked for our sister company ESI, as an environmental consultant specialising in contaminated land. During my 11 years with ESI I was lucky enough to contribute to some large and interesting projects, and really enjoyed going out on site undertaking intrusive investigations. Getting muddy, cold and wet became part and parcel of my job – I loved it!
In 2013, I was involved in the most exciting project of my career. I launched ESI’s sister company (Envirep) to deliver interpretative environmental reports to the property market. Through my prior involvement with the automation and management of Phase 1 Contaminated Land Desk Study Reports, I reacted to an opportunity to service the demand for a more varied range of desktop reports to cover the initial stages of planning.
In December 2015, Envirep was renamed GeoSmart Information and our new product range was launched. The rest is history!
What does your role involve?
I manage a team of 5 staff, most of whom are consultants delivering our data and reports. I provide technical training and mentoring to ensure they use their experience and knowledge to deliver reports of the highest standard. I coordinate all aspects of the day to day running of the business ensuring anything that comes in is looked after, and anything that’s sent out always meets the needs of our customers.
What do you enjoy about working at GeoSmart?
I really enjoy meeting new challenges head on. My experience of working in environmental consulting has enabled me to grasp the needs of the property market. I love hearing about new opportunities and datasets the GeoSmart team can use to help our customers. It’s fantastic to work for an up and coming business that encourages creativity in this way.
What does the future look like for GeoSmart?
One word – exciting!
We are the first company to deliver a sustainable drainage (SuDS) screening report for the transaction market. This has been one of GeoSmart’s biggest achievements in the last 12 months. The buzz around new innovation ideas really excites me and the list of opportunities is endless. Over the next 12 months we plan to introduce some new and exciting changes to our report range, as well as releasing updated versions of our datasets. The team is ever growing, so watch this space!
What do you enjoy doing out of the office?
I really enjoy spending time with my family. I have a 2 year old daughter who keeps me on my toes. Family and food is my perfect combination. We love eating out and trying new places. I have a slightly unhealthy addiction to checking out menus (don’t tell anyone)! It’s not all unhealthy; I play competitive netball for a team called The Wanderers, which has been my passion since collage. It brings out my competitive side!
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Bubbly, organised and positive.
We would like to reassure our clients that we have implemented measures to ensure service continuity and mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 . Our robust IT system and environmental database allows all team members to operate effectively whatever their location.
