Geosmart Information Ltd is one of the UK’s leading specialist providers of flood data and services. Our people have deep technical knowledge which is drawn upon by many client types – from small building and architectural practices to multinational utilities. The mission of Geosmart Insurance & Finance is to increase the sales of this data and services in the financial services sectors – mainly the insurance and lending business.

Geosmart has completed its latest representational flood model – incorporating expertise and features which can support decisions which involve complex flood risks. These risks can propose significant potential for damage, loss, or impairment to assets in the built environment. Furthermore, flood risk is driven by several factors which are generally understood, but climate change is already having profound effects, and this will continue for decades to come.

Geosmart Information Ltd is based in Shrewsbury and whilst the position reports to the MD who is based there, it is NOT a requirement to be based in Shropshire but there is a need for the successful candidate to travel regularly to Shrewsbury for meetings, etc.

Role Profile & Requirements:

We are seeking a Sales Manager (or Director in the case of an exceptional candidate) to join the Management team with a focus on winning orders from the I&F markets.

The role will include working with:

  • the technical experts who operate and maintain the flood model (hydrologists and programmers), and;
  • the insurance and finance professionals who have an understanding of how the model is used to improve the risk management of our finance sector clients.

The role therefore requires someone with an ability to bring together key elements from the different segments and use them to solve both qualitative and quantitative problems by winning orders from a variety of clients.

An understanding of complex mathematical or computational concepts is not required, but numeracy is required – as problems and solutions will be presented at least partially in quantitative format.

Competencies and experience:

A technical degree is required as an ability to understand the likely ‘risk pathway’ of environmental factors (eg sea level rise, increased rainfall, etc) is essential.

Significant experience of technical B2B sales and a proven track record in this is a definite requirement.

An ability to collate information from different sources such as annual returns, portfolio submissions, sector specific reports and understand relationships.

An ability to communicate clearly and competence with business technology.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their professional qualifications and a genuine career path is offered that will potentially lead to a Board position.
