Graduate Civil Engineer – Drainage
Geosmart deliver specialist advice on flood risk, drainage and contaminated land to support property professionals, developers and asset managers. We have established a significant pipeline of work within the property sector and want to expand our capacity for detailed drainage design.
Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with enthusiasm and ambition to join our sustainable drainage team. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in sustainable drainage, preferably with a relevant degree and an understanding of the planning and development market. A minimum of two years’ experience of drainage design is preferred, either as a consultant or directly for a Local Authority.
The role will include drainage design and contribution to the development of new products and services.
Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Prepare drainage strategies and undertake detailed drainage design, calculations and drawings;
- Write and review technical interpretative reports on flooding and drainage;
- Take an active role in GeoSmart’s commercial development of drainage services, developing new clients, and achieving business development revenue targets; and
- Undertake external consultations with regulatory bodies.
Role competencies and experience:
- Ability to design all aspects of drainage from conceptual layout to detailed design;
- Competency with CAD design and surface water modelling (Microdrainage and/or Causeway Flow) to prepare detailed surface water drainage layouts, sections and construction details;
- Detailed knowledge of sustainable drainage design principles;
- Ability to prepare SuDS management & maintenance plans;
- Competent in foul drainage design;
- A good understanding of the drainage requirements for property development;
- Strong communicator and holds a driving licence; and
- Experience in technical report writing and project management.
