About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious Principal Consultant to join our team as a Flood Risk Technical Lead. This role is perfect for an experienced professional with a strong technical foundation in flood risk and drainage project delivery, coupled with a passion for business development and client management. Key responsibilities include:
- Business Development: Lead the growth and development of our due diligence services for commercial site acquisitions, flood mitigation strategies, and planning application support. Take a hands-on approach to developing key accounts, and nurturing client relationships.
- Technical Leadership: Provide strategic and technical leadership, ensuring the highest standards of delivery across projects. Oversee flood investigations and flood risk assessments. Provide support for the development of our sustainable drainage strategies alongside our engineering team. Ensure technical excellence in reports, offering guidance and support to junior consultants.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of consultants, fostering skills development and enhancing team capabilities. Develop and promote GeoSmart’s expertise in flood risk and sustainable development solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our technical experts to launch new services, ensuring alignment between client needs and technical delivery. Collaborate on the launch and refinement of innovative tools such as the FloodSmart Analytics platform and the UK flood risk model, contributing to GeoSmart’s reputation as an industry leader.
- Client Engagement: Enhance GeoSmart’s reputation as a trusted adviser by delivering exceptional value to key accounts, supported by our expert consultancy team.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Degree and postgraduate qualification in geoscience or a related field.
- Commercial acumen with a track record of winning proposals and developing key accounts.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., CIWEM) or working towards it.
- Minimum of 10 years’ industry experience, including technical report writing, reviewing, and project management.
- Proven ability to manage small teams and deliver projects effectively.
- A valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.
- Innovative mindset with the ability to adopt new ideas and technologies to enhance our clients’ outcomes.
- Empathy, strong interpersonal skills, and confidence in client-facing roles.
