GeoSmart Information introduces RIBA-approved webinar for property professionals

Leading environmental consultancy GeoSmart Information has launched a new webinar after it was approved by the Royal Institute of British Architects last week.

The online seminar, entitled Groundwater Flood Risk and Basement Impact Assessments, was established in response to the increased demand for Basement Impact Assessments for developments in relation to flooding, groundwater and drainage risks.

It is the sixth topic developed by the Shrewsbury-based specialist as part of the consultancy’s Continuing Professional Development programme of RIBA-approved webinars.

The session is aimed at architects and professionals in the property sector and will advise attendees on the risks of groundwater flooding, the impacts such risks have on developments and the importance of Basement Impact Assessments in supporting risk management strategies.

The new instalment follows the Mayor of London’s distribution of a flood risk warning to 45,000 of the capital’s basement property residents in June after flash floods devastated areas of the city last year.

Paul Ellis, managing director of GeoSmart Information, said: “We are incredibly proud to launch this webinar and to further our growing catalogue of RIBA-approved, CPD seminars. The webinar provides essential information on the threats posed to developments by groundwater flooding and looks at the impact of this type of flooding on basements in particular.

“Given the catastrophic floods experienced in London last July, alongside the projected rise of severe flooding in the UK, our seminar is a timely resource that will help professionals to deliver flood-adapted developments.”

The first live stream of the webinar is scheduled for 30 November and will be hosted by a GeoSmart specialist.
