Technical Director – Flood Risk

We are an established environmental business with a proven track record, providing Environmental Information to support Property Professionals and Asset Managers to understand the Environment and manage risk. We provide Sustainable Development products and services, using our expertise in Flood Risk, Climate Change, Contaminated Land, Groundwater and Water Management which has supported our revenue growth of >30% for each of the last 3 years.

Job Description:

Do you have the ambition, enthusiasm and strategic vision to lead our team of flood risk consultants and support the continued growth of our services ?

If so, we are interested in talking to you about our significant growth plans to deliver specialist advice on groundwater, flood risk, and drainage, providing market leading environmental consultancy reports. As part of the senior management team, you will be responsible for shaping our future strategy in developing our flood risk assessment division. You would be directing our work for property professionals, developers, and asset managers in the residential, commercial, insurance and financial sectors. The role will be key in the development of new services, including the launch of our FloodSmart Analytics tool and UK flooding from all sources model. The job will include team management, technical oversight and review, to enhance our team’s capability. Previous roles will have given you an understanding of project management and client interaction, particularly the value of building customer relationships. A minimum of 12 years’ experience of working in industry is preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide strategic leadership for the development of our flood & hydrology services.
• Direct the team delivering technical interpretative reports on flood investigations, drainage, and flood risk assessments.
• Assess site suitability for development subject to planning requirements for flood risk.
• Recommend appropriate flood mitigation measures.
• Undertake due diligence reviews of flood risk to support commercial site purchase.
• Review technical interpretative reports on flood risk, supporting junior consultants.
• Manage and mentor a team in the delivery of technical reports and support their training and development.
• Support GeoSmart’s commercial development plans, taking an active role in developing new clients, securing work and achieving business development revenue targets.
• Represent GeoSmart at meetings, conferences, CPD seminars, etc.
• Undertake external consultations with regulatory bodies (such as Local Authorities and Environment Agency).
• Manage client accounts, understanding their requirements and taking responsibility to deliver these.
• Prepare and review proposals.
• Manage projects, understand required time inputs and deliver in time to budget.
• Undertake travel for business development and site walkovers.
